Visual Journal Assignment #11 (Term 3)

Due: Monday, June 16th

This will be your last visual journal assignment of the term. Since it is the last visual journal assignment for the term, I am giving you the chance to generate your own topic.

You may create a drawing or an illustration of anything you chose. Perhaps you create a drawing in the style of an artist of your choice, or you use a topic you’ve learned about in art this past term to inspire you.
For your assignment you must create a drawing or an illustration on a sheet of paper that uses the whole sheet. You will then write a paragraph describing to me what inspired you in this final visual journal assignment.

This is a chance to not only show me your own style, but also your own sense of creativity. Just like any other visual journal assignment, it is essential that you put in an adequate amount of time and effort.

This must be a new drawing you create this week, and not a drawing or sketch you’ve done in the past.

Visual Journal Assignment #10 (TERM 3)

Due: Monday, June 9th

We currently live in a world full of technology that fits into our hands. Cellphones, iPods, iPads, and tablets allow us to access a variety of information no matter where we are.

It has become popular to decorate these pieces of technology with cases that not only protect them from damage, but allow us to inject some of our personality into them.

For this visual journal assignment, you will be designing not one, but two cases for a device of your choice.

In your sketchbooks or on a sheet of paper, you will create two “outlines” of a device (cellphone, iPod, iPad, tablet, etc). These will be the outlines for the cases.

The theme of your two designs should be opposites. Meaning that the subject matter should be the opposites of each other. Some examples could be light vs. dark, color vs. black and white, good vs. evil, hot vs. cold.

Along with creating designs that are the opposite of each other, also remember that you want to create designs that are visually appealing and that would adapt themselves well to being cases.

For your paragraph, you will describe how you came up with your device case designs and why you feel like they are opposites of each other.
