8th Grade Printmaking Final Projects

The 8th graders have wrapped up their printmaking unit and I am thrilled with their final results. Students used the reductive relieve method to create two or three color prints. Check out some of the finished projects below.

8th grade is now in the midst of a unit on traditional African masks. Students looked in depth at four different types of African masks, paying close attention to how the masks used proportions, color, form and texture. Students also explored how traditionally masks are used during ceremonies or rituals. Students then designed their own masks, basing them on a ceremony or ritual of their choice. The masks are currently in the early stages of construction. I'll be sure to post pictures of them when they're completed.
